Is wood flooring on stairs expensive?

As trends change over time, it becomes more and more clear that the options available to people now are far greater than they used to be in regards to flooring in your home?
Throwback 40 years every home had Marley tiles, the harbinger of asbestos and very bleak home design. Nowadays the choices of flooring for your home can range from a beautiful silky carpet, to a rustic wood floor... Maybe herringbone? Maybe Chevron? Dare i say even multiple wood finishes?!
With the arrival of Amtico and Karndean, as well as other LVT floors, the choice is truly endless when it comes to styling your home, some people prefer the modern look of an LVT floor that's designed like marble or has a designer motif that would have any compass maker basking in envy. Some people prefer the modern tones of a typical laminate floor or the durability of a standard plank finish.
The part of our home that has been universally kept the same for the last 30-40 years is our staircase, in some homes this areas could be the first thing to see when a guest enters our home, in others it may be tucked away, but we can always guarantee we will be using it twice a day at the very least. For a long time a staircase has been dominated with a nice carpet that soothes our footing as we walk to and from our bed, but after a short while this carpet can become warn and less appealing, pets can also have a field day on a nice edge of a step which could be used as a scratching post or a mid night snack. Some people opt for a nice carpet runner with or without a set of rods and eyes to create a nice feature. One thing that has always eluded the middle class British home is the idea of having wood, or laminate on our stairs.
